The Korean illustrator Kim Jungyoun, based in Seoul, moves effortlessly between different techniques and languages: from delicate hand-painted watercolors to digital drawings, passing through the production of manga and animated GIFs. His aesthetic was born from a childhood passion for Slam Dunk, the celebrated basketball manga that marked an entire generation in Asia. That’s precisely where his imagery takes shape: a fusion of sport, pop culture, and street fashion, where every character becomes the visual reflection of a deeply connected urban generation.

After graduating from the Department of Animation at Konkuk University, Jungyoun began collaborating with brands and creative organizations, alternating solo exhibitions with international projects. The most recent is a collaboration with Nike, which brought his aesthetic — made of meticulous details and characters immersed in the world of sneakers — to a global platform.

His work tells the stories of the new generations through the objects that represent them: clothing, accessories, logos, sneakers. With an almost obsessive precision in reproducing textures and materials, Kim Jungyoun manages to bring to life figures that seem to emerge from the page, turning each illustration into a small visual tale of identity and belonging.
