A huge sphere, 110 meters high, appeared in Las Vegas a few weeks ago. Every day colorful animations transform the appearance of the ball, first it becomes a basketball, then a moon and even a giant eye. But what is it? What looks like an art installation is actually a real building, high as a skyscraper and covered entirely with led wall. Its name is Sphere, it has nine floors and its internal theater can accommodate up to 20,000 people. From an architectural and technological point of view, Sphere is a true masterpiece.
Inaugurated on July 4th, Sphere is the largest spherical building in the world. It is owned by Madison Square Garden Entertainment – owner of numerous TV and the New York Knicks – which has already announced the construction of a second sphere in London, in the Stradford area. The huge facility cost $2.3 billion and promises to host shows, concerts, sports matches and various entertainment activities. The first concert will be that of U2 and will be held on September 29.
