Lauren Zaknoun‘s art started in Massachusetts and arrived in the galleries of New York, Paris, Milan, and Boston, and it doesn’t seem he intends to stop. Lauren is a photographer, but also an illustrator and visual artist and it is precisely from the encounter of her specialties that her works are born, digital photomanipulations that create a totally surreal and disconcerting world.

Unlike many of her colleagues who use this art to create fun and colourful visual games, those signed by Lauren explore a very dark and deep universe, in which loneliness, absence, fear, anxiety and the need to escape dominate.

These emotions are particularly vivid in the series entitled One Hundred Nights, also characterized by the presence of the dream that sometimes, almost naturally, becomes a nightmare. The boundary between dream and nightmare is as imperceptible as that between real and surreal
