Lea Brisell and her unsettling visual associations

It is impressive how despite the works of the young Danish artist Lea Brisell have something grotesque you feel the need to look at them.

These are fantastic works of intelligence, visual associations on the edge of the gruesome and making them even more surreal and strange are the predominance of pink, but also the use of fresh meat and parts of the body are not far behind. They are unexpected combinations, which displace, like a tongue coming out from the shell of a mussel, a soft-boiled eye or a sea urchin on an ice cream cone. The images created with extreme realism play with tactile sensations and if on the one hand, we would not watch them from the other we are strangely attracted to them.
