Louis Vuitton has set up an exhibition in Los Angeles that celebrates his artistic collaborations over the past 160 years. The Louis Vuitton X exhibition is held at 468 North Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills and contains 180 objects from the archive of the French fashion house.
The objects are displayed in 10 brightly colored rooms; some of the exhibition spaces are personalized with dark black tones with bright and colorful designs, while the rest resemble galleries with shop windows. An exhibition room has chequered walls, a powder pink ceiling and floors. The pieces in the room depict a turquoise ocean with a boat and a pier.
The exhibition includes six LV Monogram leather travel bags that have been reinterpreted by famous artists and designers, including Karl Lagerfeld and Zaha Hadid, as well as Rei Kawakubo, Yayoi Kusama, Cindy Sherman and Frank Gehry. Another focus of the exhibition is the latest Artycapucines collection by LV, a project in collaboration with six contemporary artists who have designed Capucines bags tailored to the brand. Sam Falls, Urs Fischer, Nicholas Hlobo, Alex Israel, Tschabalala Self and Jonas Wood each created a design.
The exhibition also includes a collection of Louis Vuitton trunks from the early twentieth century, art deco perfume bottles and display cases designed by LV’s nephew, Gaston-Louis.
Louis Vuitton X will be on display until September 15,
