Paris Fashion Week is just around the corner, the program will begin on September 27 and will end on October 5, with the Louis Vuitton show. To cheat the wait, the brand of creative director Virgil Abloh has published the new book in the TravelBook series, this time not focused to a real destination but to one yet unknown: Mars.
The book collects the texts of writer Sylvain Tesson and the illustrations of Belgian cartoonist François Schuiten, who imagined a dystopian world, arid and inhospitable. The subject was born from that childhood fantasy of wanting to reach Mars, and thinking they could imagine it as the next place to build a new civilization.
This is also the goal of the story’s characters, two Adam and Eve from XXII century, who venture among red rocks and skies the color of the aurora borealis, to bring about a new order. Schuiten’s pastels draw towering mountains of rock, spikes of ice, but also metallic spacesuits to which we should become accustomed and spaceships that will become our means of transportation of the future. Having overcome the loneliness, it’s worth going to find out what this new world will be like.
Louis Vuitton’s TravelBook will release in select bookstores on October 28 and will be available for purchase online and at the luxury label’s flagship stores starting on November 1.
