Storytelling, hybridization, and diversity. These are the cardinal points of Lourdes, the New York brand that intrigues us with the mix of cultural references and the versatility of its pieces. The idea, conceived by Andrea Aresti, the Creative Director, stems from the experience of immigrant parents – one Greek Cypriot and the other Peruvian – to narrate a new facet of American fashion. United States of Whatever FW24 is Lourdes’ latest collection, encapsulating a specific concept: the American dream no longer resembles what it once did. Today, it has transformed into something different, more closely tied to individuality.

According to Andreas Aresti, the sense of being in America as a status seems outdated, while what remains is the internal conflict between being proud of one’s origins and, at the same time, being brutally realistic about what it represents, even considering it as home. In short, «[…] the title isn’t America the Great, it’s just whatever now,» as stated in the collection’s press release.

Looking at the collection, there are pieces in leather, deer leather, elements with a patriotic undertone in disguise, and varsity jackets without the back. All of this is accompanied by one of our favorite pieces: the oversized shirt featuring the word “Loser” in the center, a true point of reflection that connects to the concept of Americanness discussed above. It’s a collection waiting to be discovered, hiding unexpected details that lead us back to what remains of American fashion between identity and the stars and stripes ethos.
