Luca Vegetti is a young freelance photographer based in Milan, where he studies and he graduates at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera. Some of his photographs have already appeared in our InstHunt chart, but now is the time to discover a little bit more about him and his work.

In 2018 Luca starts collecting a series of photos he takes and including it in his personal project “Structura” which protagonists are buildings and facades pull out from the place where we used to see them in order to highlight their architectural form and conferring so a sense of the three-dimensional image.

The project can only take inspiration and start from the city of Milan, passing by the Duomo and arriving at the Generali Tower by Zaha Hadid.

You can find a selection of the series below and all of Luca’s projects in his Behance page.

NSFW by Laurent Castellani, sensuality is in the detail

Claudia Fuggetti · 6 months ago · Photography

Small things, fetish, there are those who have made detail an art: this is the case of the Corsican photographer Laurent Castellani. The face of the woman and all her expressive potential become the focus of the aesthetic research of the artist, who creates sensual NSFW images.

The delicacy of the faces is often visually associated with the flowers, also captured in detail, endowed with a fragile beauty and strong at the same time. Laurent takes photographs that are easy to trace back to the fashion industry (he has collaborated with brands such as Yves Saint Laurent and Chloé) but his originality tends more to focus on the emotions and the extreme care of the light, which often further sculpts the faces accentuating their expressiveness.

In a system of images that constantly displays nude bodies, the artist shows us another type of femininity, no less allusive, but certainly more intriguing.

Take a look at her Instagram profile here and if this artist has interested you we suggest you retrieve our article about Hollie Fernando.

Poolside, a dreamlike and perfect view of the English pools

Poolside, a dreamlike and perfect view of the English pools

Giulia Guido · 6 months ago · Photography

Everyone has a talent and that of the Scottish photographer Soo Burnell is to capture the beauty of places like the English swimming pools of retro style, but still in use today. This is how the photographic series “Poolside” was born, a collection of shots taken on board some of the most beautiful swimming pools in Edinburgh, London, Manchester, Glasgow, Paris.

Soo’s intention was to photograph the pools to highlight their architecture, the geometric games created by the tiles, the blue lines on the bottom of the pool, the warning signs. The atmosphere that the shots of Poolside restore seems to be that of Wes Anderson’s films, clean, calm, perfect and dreamlike. This parallelism with the style of the American filmmaker is made even more immediate by the pastel colors that dominate these pools.

Do not underestimate the presence of man, who gives the photos a more true, but always suspended, appearance, as if the swimmers were living in a dream, in a place out of time and space.

Of course, the ultimate goal of Soo is to bring people’s interest back to these architectural masterpieces:

“We are so lucky to have these beautiful pools still in use in our city and maybe the photographs will remind people how lovely they are.”

Cinemaps, Andrew DeGraff draws the movements of the characters in the films.

Giulia Guido · 6 months ago · Photography

Andrew DeGraff, artist and illustrator who lives and works in Maine, has managed to combine and unite his profession with his passion for film and cinema in a unique and quite original way, giving life to the series of illustrations “Cinemaps“.

Andrew spends hours and hours enclosing in a single drawing all the movements and paths of the characters of some of the most iconic films, from Shining to The Breakfast Club.

In practice, for each film, there is only one drawing, made with gouache and ink on paper, which in the end takes the form of a map complete with all the details that we can see in the film, from streets to buildings, from nature to objects.

But don’t be fooled, even though the final result can be enclosed on a sheet of paper, it doesn’t mean that the work is simple, on the contrary.

After choosing the film to “map”, Andrew looks at it a couple of times, during which he rebuilds the path and movements of each character – or at least the main ones. He also helps from behind the scenes or even from lego reconstructions. Only once all the material has been collected does it move on to the actual drawing, which for minor works can be taken from 50 to 80 hours, while for more complex maps it can even take up to 1000 hours.

The sensuality of the women photographed by Bernhard Handick

The sensuality of the women photographed by Bernhard Handick

Giulia Guido · 6 months ago · Photography

The art of Bernhard Handick, photographer and multidisciplinary artist, does not end with a shot, on the contrary, the real work begins only after hearing the click of the camera.

In fact, some of her photographs are not modified, returning the reality of that precise moment, but others are subjected to a work of modification, but not with Photoshop or post-production. Bernhard transforms his shots using color, paint or creating collages with them. This process, contrary to what one might think, does not destroy the image, but creates a sort of depth, makes it less flat and invests it with a whole new meaning.

At the center of her artistic research, whether it be photographs or collages, we always find the female body naked. In this way, Bernhard Handick is also able to play the role of the sculptor, who plays with the bodies and transforms them into works of art.

Below you will find a selection of his works, to find out more go to his website.
