Manchester City and the New Away Kit

Black is the color of elegance, mystery, and authority. But for Manchester City, it’s also a nod to its roots. The new 2025/26 Away Kit, designed by PUMA, rewrites the club’s history by drawing inspiration from one of its earliest looks, dating back to 1884, when the Cityzens were taking their first steps in Gorton. Today, that same spirit is embodied in a powerful and refined all-black kit.

What defines the shirt isn’t just its dark tone, but also a series of details that enhance its visual presence: the metallic crest, silver accents, and a retro-style white collar. A combination of elements that blends past and future, memory and innovation. The result is a minimalist yet strongly iconic aesthetic, designed to stand out both on and off the pitch.

While sports design is often dominated by bright colors and bold graphics, this return to absolute black is nothing less than a statement of intent. It’s a way to affirm a strong, confident personality—rooted in history, yet ready to rewrite it. That’s why the launch campaign was shot entirely in black and white: a stylistic move that amplifies the concept’s coherence.

Behind the new shirt is also a reflection on sustainability. The Replica version is made using recycled materials through PUMA’s RE:FIBRE initiative, with over 95% of regenerated fibers sourced from textile waste. A direction that is becoming increasingly essential in contemporary sportswear design.

The kit will make its official debut on Saturday, August 9, during the pre-season friendly against Palermo at the Renzo Barbera Stadium. A symbolic match to unveil a kit that, more than just a sports outfit, is a love letter to the club’s origins.
