Mariana PTKS’s murals are sunsets in the city

Mariana PTKS, also known as Mariana Patacas, is a street artist from Porto, Portugal, who has made a name for herself in the urban art scene with her unique creations. A Visual Arts graduate, Mariana began her artistic journey exploring traditional painting techniques before transitioning to the world of graffiti and mural painting. Today, her murals blend abstract elements, vibrant colors, and cosmic landscapes.

In her early works, the artist displayed a strong interest in the cosmos, the nuances of the universe, and the play of starlight, making them the protagonists of her creations. Each mural was an invitation to leap into the void, much like an astronaut.

Over the years, the cosmic landscapes that once covered entire walls have evolved into glimpses or what hides within a crack. Today, she has moved away from the dark hues that immediately evoke unexplored parts of the universe and has begun focusing on more earthly subjects, such as sunrises and sunsets.
Landscapes characterized by the use of orange, yellow, pink, light blue, and green now adorn walls, as well as bus shelters, booths, or gates, standing out amidst urban grayness and surprising onlookers.

Mariana PTKS’ style is distinguished by the absence of outlines and black lines, which gives way to geometric shapes, both linear and fluid, that come together to form her landscapes.
