In the city of Istanbul, fantastic cloud-shaped structures have sprung up for the little ones. They are the iconic landmarks of a new outdoor playground on the roof of Marmara Forum, a shopping mall in the Bakirköy district. The cloud windows magically change color as the daylight changes.

Made by the Carve studio which was asked to create a project for the playground on the roof terrace of the Marmara Forum, 24 meters above street level. The terrace and dining area had been renovated to make the Forum a leading shopping mall, and needed a new playground to match its charm.

The playground has areas for different age groups. The aim was to create a link in design through form and experience: the experience of touching clouds, being about eight floors above ground. The white paint of the game clouds was chosen to adapt to changing weather conditions: it appears bright white on a sunny day and greyer on a rainy day.
The dichroic windows colour the inside and outside of the game clouds and also give extraordinary colours to the world that can be seen through the windows from the inside. A magical realism experienced by children in real life.
