Tortona

The Tortona district is the most famous one of the Design Week. With an amazing program of exhibitions, events, locations and activities, this network has always embodied the broadest sense of Milan Design Week. The district is always full of people from all over the world and it becomes a really big party among openings, exhibitions, bars and restaurants. 

What you must see:

Fabio Novembre, DBOX
Fabio Novembre designed the innovative DBOX idea container. The architect realized a box where the visitor’s path winds through areas that are divided and linked by color.
When And Where: Magna Pars Hotel, via Tortona 15, 9am – 9pm

IKEA.
For this edition, Ikea designed its smart home: a playground where you can interact with lights and sounds through experiences, installations, and DJ sets. The great protagonist will be SYMFONISK, a new product developed in collaboration with Sonos for IKEA.
Where and When: Torneria Tortona, via Novi 5, 9-14 April, 10 am, 11 pm.

CORRAINI.
In its magic bookshop  121+ in via Savona, Corraini inaugurates an exhibition dedicated to artists’ games and presents a new series of games by Bruno Munari. Originally produced by Bruno Danese in the 60s and 70s and now republished by Corraini, appear in an exhibition of objects to discover and an itinerary to see and touch amidst games without rules.
Where and When: LIBRERIA ExTemporanea 121+, via Savona 17/5, 9am-7:30 pm.

STONE ISLAND, PROTOTYPE RESEARCH_ SERIES 04.
Stone Island continues the research of new materials producing unique projects with a limited number created by innovative technologies with fabric and treatments still unreleased.
Where and when: Stone Island Showroom, via Savona 57, 10am-7:30pm

IL CASELLO GIALLO.
A peaceful place in the heart of Tortona District. Facing the tracks of the ancient Porta Genova station, on the corner of Via Savona and Via Tortona, CASELLO GIALLO is an authentic secret garden where you can drink something and enjoy street food, accompanied by Live Painting and artistic performances.

IL MUDEC E ARMANI SILOS.
Don’t forget to visit the museums of Tortona District, with two important exhibitions in program: Tadao Ando – The challenge at Armani Silos e A New Moka is Booming at Mudec.

VENTURA FUTURE

… but the most important news is Ventura Future in collaboration with the cultural project BASE. Base is a cultural project located in the Ex-Ansaldo and it will host Ventura Future 2019 that  will embrace several interesting themes such as food, craftsmanship, technology and some academies. Another topic of Ventura Future is bio-design: with the support of the Embassy and the Consulate-General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Milan and curated by Organisation in Design, the project Future (H)eart(H): 8 Dutch Design visions for a livable earth will be on show. For the first time, to visite this exhibition you have to pay (5 euro).

ROSSANA ORLANDI

During the Milan Design Week 2019 gallerist Rossana Orlandi opens to the public her amazing space with a design exhibition by her designer and some new talents she discovers. 9 am
Where and when: via Matteo Bandello 14/16 Milan, 9-14 April, 11am-8pm / Museo Scienza e Tecnologia, via Olona 6 bis, 6-14 April, 9:30am 5:30pm
