Remember Interstellar? That movie we all pinned our hopes and dreams on, those trailers that always left us a little shaken, but “hey, it’s Nolan—sure, he makes some crap too, but damn if he doesn’t know how to make you travel with those wild, imaginative stories.” And then it all ended with that nonsense about the bookshelf in the fifth dimension, where the astronaut dad sucked into a black hole somehow communicates with his daughter through compressed time, and she instantly gets it despite a lifetime of resentment, and then they reunite years later for a final hi on her deathbed?

Well, none of that has anything to do with Ecco nulla di tutto questo ha un legame con le foto del finlandese Mikko Lagerstedt’s photos, except for the fact that they look like they were taken on some faraway, magical planet, and they do kind of resemble the movie poster.

He spends hours waiting to capture a frozen coastal scene or a shadowy forest. Many of the images in his Finnish Landscapes are composed of two photos taken from the same spot: a shorter exposure of the sky blended with a significantly longer exposure of the ground, later finessed in Lightroom.

Go follow him on Instagram, and stop thinking about that damn bookshelf.
