A new week has started and the MDW2019 has come to an end. This Design Week is even better than the one before, with some good news and more attendance. Collater.al made a report among the infinite beautiful projects in the city divided by the categories that we thought were most salient

The Secret Party

With a very closed and VIP list, TOILETPAPER in partnership with YOOX organized the “Confusion Party” at Triennale di Milano. The art magazine founded by Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari on Thursday 11th April organized this sick party with guest such as Ghali, Melissa Satta, Paola Barale, Fabio Novembre and more and more.

The Evergreen

Like every year the super talented Cristina Celestino conquered the MDW2019. In addition to Planetario – of which we have written a lot before – she customized like a 30’s Caffe Concerto the historical pastry shop Cucchi in Corso Genova. The restyling involves the interiors, the windows, the dehor and also the staff uniforms, the packaging, some sweets and the mise en place. 

… and then MARNI with the project “Marni Moon Walk” to launch the latest home collection. Exhibited at its usual venue of Viale Umbria, 42, the space really looked like a spatial system populated by good design made by Marni.

Top Rooftop

The Lambrate Rooftop in Ventura 15 is always the best one. With a beautiful garden and a swimming pool, you can relax, enjoy good music drink something and dance. This year the top floor hosted Panoramix, the rich artistic program that included the involvement of artists, exhibitions, performances, DJ sets and live music. Really the best one.

The News

The very big news of this year is Ventura, divided into two parts: Ventura Future at BASE Milano and Ventura Centrale at the tunnels under the Centrale Station. Maybe people didn’t really appreciate the entrance fee (5 euro) because at Design Week everything is free but all the exhibitions were so good. 

The Best One: Alcova

Both Alcova spaces were amazing.  The 2019 edition occupied two sites, the first location was the former panettone factory of Giovanni Cova & Co., an ex-industrial space partly taken over by plants and vegetation, frozen in a state of poetic semi-abandonment; the one was Alcova Sassetti, organized in collaboration with Alice Stori Lichtenstein and Fondazione Kenta, a former cashmere factory in Isola. A lot of amazing designer and people, for us the best one
