The jersey that tells the true essence of Rome

Rome and the imagery that embraces it are one of a kind. The Eternal City lives on contrasts — splendor and rust, worship and blasphemy. It’s precisely from this tension that “Roma Brutale” is born, the latest project by Muten Crew, which transforms the AS Roma 2023/24 Home jersey into an object of visual devotion, an urban totem that blends football, art, and street.

Signed by Muten Factory, art director and founder of the collective, the jersey is a brutal, visceral custom piece that rewrites the rules of sports design to become a manifesto of identity. The graphics, placed with surgical precision on the front and back, evoke the double soul of the Capital: sacred and feral, ancient and pop.

Between bootleg patches that poke fun at UEFA competitions and the Lupa Capitolina (Capitoline Wolf) redrawn through a graphic lens, the jersey becomes a symbol of contemporary Romanità—made of rebellion and belonging. Gothic and sans serif fonts chase each other in sharp contrast, like the constant dialogue between faith and disillusion that inhabits the city’s streets.

Embodying this spirit is Ince, a young Roman rapper chosen as the face of the campaign. His raw, authentic energy tells of the same Rome that lives in its sounds and on its walls — the one that shouts “Right, left, Mati Soulè!” like a mantra of belonging.

The shoot, curated by Andrés Juan Suarez, is a secular pilgrimage between the Foro Italico and the Curva Sud: sacred places for those who live football as a rite and the city as identity. “Roma Brutale” is more than a custom; it’s a fierce love letter — a cry that celebrates the imperfect, invincible beauty of the Capital.
