The design and architecture studio MVRDV has just completed its latest spectacular work in Rotterdam, a building with a curved mirror facade and a rooftop garden.

In April, MVRDV shared images of the first trees installed on the rooftop garden of the “boijmans van beuningen depot”.
Now, just five months later, construction of the world’s first publicly accessible art depot has been completed.

The approximately 40 meters high building is located in a public garden in Rotterdam, despite its large size, the deposit has a relatively small footprint due to its bowl shape.
The “boijmans van beuningen” gives reflections of the surrounding environment, integrating fully with the environment, about 1,664 mirror panels cover it entirely.

The founder of MVRDV called it “a daring project, and its success comes from direct dialogue with all parties involved – from the person who calculates the exact curvature of the mirror panels and the construction worker who installed the windows to the company who co-designed our rooftop forest”.
