NEAN and The Suspended Moment

Fabien Hupin, known by his artistic name NEAN, is a self-taught artist based in Brussels, where his painting research focuses on capturing that suspended moment—a theme that deeply permeates his works.

Through a markedly poetic approach, NEAN explores the relationship between human beings and their environment. His art becomes a vehicle for emotions, fueled by musical inspiration: the titles of his works often match those of the songs that influenced them. Melody thus becomes a starting point, determining the color palette and material sensitivity of the depicted scenes.

One of the distinctive elements of his work is his treatment of light, which gives his compositions an evocative realism, whether in murals, canvases, or pencil drawings. With a confident and precise brushstroke, NEAN seeks truth through art, approaching an almost cinematic aesthetic.

Cinema, in fact, strongly influences his compositional and framing choices. The artist plays with different planes, alternating sharply defined images with overlapping ones, creating an immersive effect that amplifies the visual narrative. His figurative approach invites contemplation, transforming urban spaces into dreamlike settings.

NEAN does not simply paint—he opens new perspectives on cities, infusing urban landscapes with a dreamy atmosphere and inviting us to rediscover the value of public space with a renewed gaze.
