In 2025, a new chapter begins for this sneaker, set to launch in May during the Grey Days, the brand’s celebration of its chromatic and cultural heritage. Considered one of the most coveted sneakers of all time, the 1300JP is much more than just a shoe – it’s a symbol of quality, craftsmanship, and timeless style.

First released in 1985 and quickly dubbed the Rolls-Royce of sneakers, the 1300 redefined the rules of luxury running footwear. It wasn’t just a high-performance shoe – it was a statement. The full-length ENCAP midsole offered unmatched cushioning, while the upper, crafted from premium nubuck and mesh, gave it an almost couture-like aesthetic… for running.

In Japan, where craftsmanship is deeply ingrained in the culture, the 1300JP quickly became a sought-after piece, worn not for running but to stand out. Every detail – from the subtle imperfections in the stitching to the Made in USA construction – spoke the language of cult appreciation.

The first official reissue came in 1995, and since then, New Balance has revived the legend every five years, building an almost mythical level of anticipation. Each release is limited, refined down to the last detail, and faithful to the original with a modern twist.
