New Balance unveiled its collection for Grey Day 2021, the Boston-based brand’s annual celebration of its heritage, which falls on May 15, and over a century of independence with the color that more than any other proudly represents its history and has now become synonymous with NB: gray.
The 2021 collection includes two 574s and a 57/40: the 574 Classic Grey; an exclusive 574 without the iconic New Balance “N” logo, called the 574 Un-N-Ding; and a limited edition all-grey colorway of the 57/40.
First introduced in the 1980s, the 574 was a simple design experiment that included the best for a runner, both road and trail, so as to create a shoe that could be worn anywhere, anytime. The 574 broke down the boundaries between performance and lifestyle use and is known worldwide for its versatility and classic design.
The Grey Day collection pays homage to the 574 in grey by relaunching the classic model along with two reinvented styles. The New Balance 57/40 is a new interpretation of the iconic model while the exclusive Grey Day 574 Un-N-ding without the “N” gives the classic shoe a unique twist by removing the oversized “N” logo from both sides.
The 574 Classic Grey unisex and the 57/40 for men, will be available at select New Balance Stores and retailers while the 574 Un-N-Ding unisex will be exclusively on NewBalance.com starting tomorrow, May 15.
“Grey Day is an important story of our heritage that we can tell through our signature grey colorway and classic 574 silhouette. Our slogan ‘Worn by Anyone’ is a nod to the past, present and future of these iconic models”, said Pat Cassidy, Global Director, Consumer Marketing & Athlete Activation.
