Nils Völker is a multimedia artist based in Berlin, specializing in visual communication design. Recently he created an installation consisting of two hundred and seventy white garbage bags, which were set up at the Museum für Angewandte Kunst (MAC), on the occasion of the exhibition Sagmeister & Walsh: Beauty.

The bags have the characteristic of moving slowly as if they were part of an ancient sailing ship. In the installation, there are 1000 fans installed with precision and 45 circuits, which contribute to inflating and deflating rhythmically suspended objects in the room. The work is divided into nine segments that each contain two columns of plastic bags, in addition, the entire structure generates a sound that recalls the waves of the sea on the water’s edge, transporting the visitor in a timeless dimension.

The exhibition will be visible until March 2019, at the MAK in Vienna.
