While looking at a painting, you never thought about what might be beyond the frame. Maybe the portion the painter decides to paint is just a small part of the real subject. Thanks to No Blue Without Yellow, the latest video created by Maciek Janicki, we travel through the landscapes and places that inspired Van Gogh’s most famous paintings.
Maciek was born in Poland, but his work as an artist and animator led him to work and live in San Francisco. Through various arts such as drawing, cinema, music Maciek transports the viewer for a few minutes in imaginary, almost surreal places.
This short film, made in collaboration with the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, offers us a tour of some of the Dutch artist’s masterpieces, made at different times in his life. We fly over landscapes made of strong, confused brushstrokes and vivid and bright colors.
