Riyadh is ready to light up, the capital of Saudi Arabia will host “Noor Riyadh”, a festival produced by Balich Worldwide Shows of light and art in which several international artists will take part.
The city will be illuminated from March 18 to June 12 by about 60 works and installations under the theme “under one sky”. A theme not random, specially chosen in a year in which, needless to say, our habits have been completely overturned. So symbolically, although the festival takes place in the Saudi territories, we gather under the same sky, under the same light, obviously intended as a symbol of hope.
But the festival also wants to shed light on Riyadh’s diversity, which is also why the works will be distributed throughout the city, a celebration of light and art on an unprecedented scale.
These are some of the artists who have contributed their works to illuminate the city: Daniel Buren, Carsten Höller, Yayoi Kusama, Dan Flavin and Robert Wilson, along with Saudi artists Ahmed Mater, Lulwah al Homoud, Ayman Zedani, Rashed Alshashai and Maha Malluh.
The hope that this festival shines like a beacon to the world and illuminates our path to a brighter future reflecting our theme of ‘under one sky’.
A different festival, the one of “Noor Riyadh”, that will totally change the Arab capital, immersing it in a unique but still bright atmosphere. Here are the photos of the first installations already present in the streets of the city and not.
