Oliver Mayhall, an elegant and surreal photographer

-
Federica Cimorelli

The photographs of Oliver Mayhall literally turn reality upside down, resize the world, cancel the force of gravity and change its proportions.

With photography Oliver looks at life from a different perspective, finds what goes unnoticed by everyone and offers a unique and extravagant picture of the world.
His shots capture the most curious and original everyday aspects, they are abstract and indefinite portraits that shuffle order and changing the rules.

He plays with perspectives, effects, dilations and reductions, cuts and conjunctions, lights and shadows. His photography is black and white conceptual art.

For Oliver Mayhall the challenge is to create a dreamlike reality, to search for the dream dimension and to investigate the human unconscious.
His is a precise, elegant and refined photograph that masterfully balances nature and humanity.

Oliver studied documentary film at Goldsmiths University of London. His short film “Laundrette” delves into the the thoughts, fears, dreams and idiosyncrasies of people doing their laundry.
