Omar Hassan, combines his art with boxing, bringing his beliefs around the world: we all fight alone, we fall, we get up and continue to fight.

“When you fell you have to get up. This is the life. The life is a big fight. “

Omar was born in 1987 in Milan, where he approached the world of street art, thanks to which was born an unconditional love for color that becomes tangible through his dots. Dripping points made with the spray can, which in turn becomes the protagonist of many of Omar’s works.

So, the series called Injection takes shape which reflects another important element of Omar’s life: at the age of seven he is diagnosed with diabetes. His illness will be the reason that will force him later to retire from the world of boxing, but also the inspiration for this series of paintings. Five dots of color a day represent the five injections of insulin that mark his days.

Moving away from the figure of the self-taught writer, at nineteen he enrolled at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, where he perfected and studied the history of art, undergoing the charm of Pollock’s action painting.

This is how the Breaking Through series is born, which encompasses all his passions: action, color, painting, boxing. Omar makes spectacular performances, during which he immerses his boxing gloves in the paint and begins to throw punches to the white canvas, introducing a new pictorial gesture that requires physical strength, sometimes anger and that has a great artistic yield. Moreover, a gesture, like that of the fist, which universally has a negative meaning, with the art of Omar is ennobled.

“I’m not punching to destroy: I’m creating.”

The gesture that creates art becomes art itself.
