On Chesil Beach is the adaptation of the homonymous novel written by Ian McEwan. Over the past years, a number of directors adapted novels of the English author, such as The Cement Garden (directed by Andrew Birkin) and Joe Wright’s Atonement.
This time the plot is about a love story between two teenagers during the 1960s. On Chisel Beach is directed by the theatrical filmmaker Dominic Cooke, who won a large number of prices for his productions. The cast is also particularly interesting, such as Saoirse Ronan (the new face who recently gained success with Ladybird) and Billy Howle (for Dunkirk and other upcoming films) acting aside other veteran actors such as Emily Watson.
The film will come out on the 18th of May in the USA and in Germany, but for now we have the trailer.
