The artist Louise Jones aka Ouizi, creates gigantic poetic murals, invading the grey palaces with colorful flowers and bucolic fantasies. The largest artist mural, entitled Flowers For Buffalo, was recently completed in Buffalo, as part of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery’s Public Art Initiative.
Why the flowers? Ouizi explains that:
“Flowers are a vehicle for me to explore colour and shapes. They remind me so much of my own body; they’re very feminine. I consider myself to be feminine but have not always felt that way. As I get older, I’ve learned to embrace my femininity, and I find myself growing to flowers with age. “
Currently, this work is among the largest in Western New York. Style blends botanical realism with a stylized and sinuous technique that draws from the Chinese heritage, nothing is left to chance but is made with careful delicacy. In short, “put flowers in your guns” and go to visit Instagram; below you can also find an interview with the artist, during the realization of this artwork.
