Anna Valdez is a Californian artist born in 1985 who makes beautiful paintings that have as subjects colorful still lifes. The mood has exotic and solar tones that lighten up the static nature of this kind of subject. Anna discovered her talent during an archaeological excavation in Ireland, which still retains the sketchbook with her drawings.

The visual reinterpretation of these abandoned sites allowed Anna to explore the connection between anthropological and artistic methods of cataloging and archiving. Her research is not limited to painting but extends to drawing, engraving, collage and digital media exploring the relationship between material and cultural identity.

Anna Valdez earned MAE recognition in painting from the University of Boston in 2013, and her work has recently been exhibited at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Masur Museum of Art, Danforth Museum, Boston University Art Galleries, Hashimoto Contemporary of San Francisco and Parts Gallery of Toronto, Canada.
