This year too, for Pride, the Liberty Amphitheater in Milan has been transformed into an open-air canvas. Until June 30, the iconic steps of the Apple Store will be bursting with color thanks to “I am who I am”, a collective art installation celebrating the free expression of self. No labels. No cages. Just an unstoppable desire for freedom, told through contemporary illustration.

The work is signed by four names from the new Italian visual scene: Margherita Caspani, Giacomo Agnello Modica, Sara Brienza, and Leonardo Papa. Each brought their own language, sensitivity, and imagination to shape a shared message: the multiplicity of bodies as the key to representing the infinite variety of identities.

Together, they have transformed the amphitheater steps—a gathering place for many—into a powerful and inclusive visual narrative. The colors are not just decoration, but voice. The figures, free from patterns, tell stories that everyone can recognize or learn to listen to.

As in past Pride editions, “I am who I am” was born from the collaboration between Apple and Illustri, a collective and platform promoting Italian illustration, curated by Francesco Poroli. It’s an open invitation, visible to all and freely accessible in the heart of Milan. A gesture that reminds us how art can still be a space for reflection, belonging, and pride, and how essential it is in conveying important messages.
