All the books to celebrate pride month

Celebrating Pride Month is never enough, and after decorating the Porta Venezia district with illustrations created by our community, we decided to recommend a few books that, often in original ways, have explored the themes of LGBTQAI+ relationships, gender identity, and self-discovery. Let’s start with an author who is very dear to us and whose work we have followed since the beginning, Josephine Yole Signorelli, better known as Fumettibrutti. Among the many books she has published, we chose “P. La mia adolescenza trans” (P. My Trans Adolescence) by Fumettibrutti, but her other works are absolutely worth reading as well. There are also completely illustrated books, and in this case, we chose two very different ones: on one hand, we have the sketches of Tom of Finland in a book published by Skira, and on the other hand, we have a children’s book – but one that can be appreciated by people of any age – presenting 53 historical figures who have gone beyond prejudices. We continue with graphic novels that have become true publishing phenomena and have even been adapted into TV series, such as the “Heartstopper” saga, consisting of 5 volumes, with the first two seasons available on Netflix. Of course, we also included a photography book, and our choice fell on American photographer and activist Nan Goldin.
