These are just some of the opening sentences of “Schiavi del sesso“, the new single by VOLOSUMARTE, accompanied by an exceptional video clip. 

VOLOSUMARTE is a project, an experiment, born from the meeting between Martina Catalfamo and Francesco Santalucia. Martina is a Sicilian actress and singer-songwriter, while Francesco is a composer, multi-instrumentalist and artistic producer who works internationally. Together they form a musical duo characterized by psychedelic and electronic music that accompanies captivating lyrics that often refer to topics and themes related to current affairs. 

Their latest single, “Schiavi del sesso“, can be considered by many as an uncomfortable piece because it touches and destroys all those preconceptions typical of a patriarchal society that has led to a wrong view of the woman’s body, ending up provoking feelings of inadequacy in women themselves. 

In a society that still imposes unreachable, unreal canons of beauty on us today, Martina Catalfamo’s scratchy voice screams Basta!

The single is accompanied by a video clip signed by director Dejana Poposka, director of photography Leonardo Kurtz and produced by Hubris Pictures on behalf of Cafe Concerto Italia Srl. 

The short film starts from the works of Modigliani, his women whom he loved without limits and for this reason he was able to portray in their truest beauty, without filters. But the artist from Livorno was also chosen because throughout his career he never earned money from his works, while after his death many people used his story to make money from the sale of his paintings. It is legitimate to wonder what has changed since then. How is an artist like him conceived today? But also, how has the idea of love and sex changed?
