Stella McCartney and Jeff Koons return with a playful provocation

The conversation between fashion and art returns in an explicit, ironic, and deliberately provocative form with the new collaboration between British designer Stella McCartney and renowned artist Jeff Koons. It’s a comeback shaped by a long-standing complicity: a bond that began in the early 2000s and, over time, became fertile ground for constant creative exchange.

This isn’t the first time the two have worked together: back in 2005, they already translated Koons’s iconic Rabbit into scaled-down versions as a necklace and bracelet, anticipating that short circuit between luxury, art, and object that feels more relevant than ever today.

Embodying the spirit of the new capsule is Amelia Gray, the perfect face for a project that openly plays with sensuality, irony, and pop references.

In the images released with the launch, the model wears a T-shirt first seen on the brand’s Winter 2025 runway, featuring the slogan Slippery When Wet—a line that traces back to McCartney’s early-2000s debut.

The message intertwines with one of Koons’s works, Untitled, depicting a girl riding a dolphin: an image suspended between innocence, innuendo, and a hyper-glossy imagination. Another clear nod to the irreverent language shared by the two creatives appears in the Doggy Style print, updated here and paired with Koons’s well-known canine imagery.

The illustrations reference his Yorkshire Terrier and Poodle sculptures—recurring subjects in his practice and the symbol of an aesthetic that’s intentionally playful, hovering somewhere between domestic affection and kitsch culture.

The collection launches alongside Spring/Summer 2026 and includes tanks, a hoodie, a classic organic cotton T-shirt, and a chunky-knit wool turtleneck—along with new pieces like a sweatshirt, bag, and knit adorned with an illustration of the Poodle sculpture. These are garments made to be worn, but also kept—especially the versions signed by both the designer and the artist, available exclusively at the brand’s New York store.

Ahead of the latest project, McCartney and Koons reflected together on topics that go beyond the product: the contemporary meaning of luxury, the role of purpose in creation, and the growing impact of artificial intelligence on creative processes. More than a simple collaboration, theirs remains an ongoing conversation—built on internal references, shared visions, and a common desire to lighten the tone around contemporary fashion. It’s an invitation, not even that subtle, to stop being so serious and make room for play—especially when luxury is the subject.
