“An architecture that defies convention is an architecture we can love for many decades”. In this short but symbolic phrase, we can summarize the work of Miguel Marques Venâncio’s (MMV) architecture studio.
“Suspended matter box” is one of the last works of the Portuguese studio, a restaurant in Portugal to be renovated and brought up to date. The rural environment of Felgueiras, where the location is located, is characterized by a mix of old traditional houses between agricultural fields and small courtyards. Therefore, it has become a challenge that required a very well thought out work, creating something that does not clash with the surrounding landscape.
The client’s main intention was to transform his business into a well-known space for important events on and around the site. So during the work, architect Miguel Marques Venâncio decided to overturn the project, lifting the building off the ground.
“Suspended matter box” is a unique project that gave life to a sophisticated room, surrounded by nature and very bright thanks to its huge windows.
