Symbols and images that recall the occult magic of the Middle Ages are at the center of Tenia‘s artistic research, the stage name of Gianluca Gambino. Born in 1986, Tenia has always been fascinated by art, but only at a mature age he began his career as an illustrator. His style manages to blend the realism of forms with the surrealism of the subjects.

Realized with ink or digitally, his works all have the lowest common denominator, they all try to investigate the meaning of Memento Mori, which from Latin means Remember you must die. This explains the gloomy settings and terrifying subjects that populate his illustrations that manage to fully represent the fragility of the human being, a fragility that has always been linked to his mortal being.

But this reflection on the brevity of life should spur the viewer to transform this awareness into the drive needed to live their lives to the fullest.

Abandon yourself to this surreal and macabre world and discover his works in our gallery and on his Instagram profile
