The world is on fire, and from the heights of our ordinary lives, we continue to be unsure whether it will rain, the sun will come out, or if we should wear the down jacket we’ve been wanting to throw to the back of our closet since late February. The beginning of spring has been marked by these kinds of feelings for a few years now, with hail and scorching sunny days, and us not knowing what to wear. For this reason, we’ve decided to dedicate this edition of The Checklist to layering.
In spring, layering is a styling technique that allows you to play with volumes, textures, and colors to create dynamic outfits that adapt to temperature changes. The balance between light and structured pieces is key: a classic combination could be a t-shirt under an open shirt, completed with a light blazer or trench coat. To add depth to the look, you can mix different materials like cotton, linen, and denim, playing with a neutral palette or experimenting with contrasting colors and prints. Spring layering is the perfect solution to combine style and functionality, allowing us to add or remove layers depending on the needs of the day.
The Men’s Look
Starting with men’s fashion, we’ve selected a few items that make things easier—especially in this season. The Playoff Excess Tee di Kith, along with a plaid shirt from Fred Perry, is a great starting point. Pair these with a pair of Dickies Carpenter Stvensville, New Balance 992 Lands sneakers, and a Wingmar cap from Columbia. Along with these, a cardigan like the Colours Camo from BAPE could come in handy, not forgetting a simple vest like the Camper Vest from Edwin, a waterproof trench coat like the 3 Layer Bonding Coat from Sacai, and, to complete the look, why not add a Packable Messenger bag from Arket.

The Women’s Look
For women, we’ve thought of a completely different look. As a base, we have a simple (but super effective for changing and making any look interesting) long-sleeved striped t-shirt from COS. Around this element, we’ve decided to add the W’ Bib Overall Straight from Carhartt and a pair of Tabi ballerinas for the true fashion enthusiasts (not forgetting the Muji socks). To add color and texture, we’ve included a Soft Wool Stripe Cardigan from Ganni, the Canvas Barn Coat from Filson, and a pleated floral Foulard from Desigual, which can also be worn à la Dov’è Liana. For the bag, we’ve opted for something simpler, pairing this mix with the Valera Shoulder Bag from Rains, which is both comfortable and practical.
