The Irishman: De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci together in Scorsese’s last movie.
Martin Scorsese returns to the gangster movie with The Irishman and an exceptional cast featuring De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci.
After being officially announced 5 months ago, Netflix released the trailer for The Irishman. The film is the latest effort by Martin Scorsese, who has been working on this project for over 5 years and has found in the giant of streaming the right producer.
Just watching the trailer you can see that The Irishman is a return to that kind of gangster movie that hasn’t been seen in a while and that only one like the award-winning director could go to bother.
The plot that was released speaks for itself: Martin Scorsese signs an epic saga about post-war organized crime in the U.S. seen through the eyes of a hitman. And if we don’t usually pay much attention to the list of actors, we read it twice to be sure: “With Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci“.
One could define the film of the great reunions, the one between De Niro and Scorsese who, although they have already worked together six times, have not worked together since 1995; but also the one between De Niro and Pacino, born with the timeless The Godfather Part 2.
The film, which is based on the facts told in the book I Heard You Paint Houses by Charles Brandt, traces the story between Frank Sheeran “The Irishman” and trade unionist Jimmy Hoffa.
Perhaps The Irishman will be the first Netflix film to receive an Oscar nomination, no one can say, but in the meantime, we enjoy the trailer!
