The Mustang is the first feature film by actress and director Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre, who in her work behind the camera, is testing her skills on an extremely touching and modern drama.
The story is about Roman Coleman (played by a magnificent Matthias Schoenaerts, known for films such as Rust and Bone, Red Sparrow or Danish Girl), a rough and violent inmate who is serving a twelve-year sentence. His life is hard, not just due to the detention, but also for the very cold human relationships. Everything changes, however, when Coleman is recruited for a rehabilitation program which includes taming and training of wild horses. This new experience will lead the protagonist to a redemption having unexpected impacts on his life. The film also features the now famous Bruce Dern, you may remember for his success in Nebraska, Alexander Payne’s masterpiece. The Mustang, as said, will be presented at the Sundance Film Festival during the next month of April. Unfortunately, there is still no firm distribution date.
Meanwhile, let’s look at the very first trailer below.
