In Tuscany there is a laser beam that hits the mountains

If you are in Maremma and after sunset you look toward the mountains, you will notice something strange. It is a laser beam more than three kilometers long that starts from the peaks above the Cave di Monte Calvi and reaches the top of Rocca Antica. This unusual element has raised many questions about its nature-is it perhaps a technological experiment or is it something else? It is actually called ECO and is a Land Art project conceived by Ultravioletto, a studio that explores the relationship between humans and technology through out-of-the-ordinary aesthetic experiences.

Until January 7, 2024, this beam of light will illuminate the mountain landscape to provide a magical spectacle that connects the depths of the Earth to the majestic Rocca Antica. ECO is a light and sound message that creates a poetic link between the community of Campiglia Marittima and the majestic surrounding mountains. This intangible artwork comes to life from the bold idea of mixing light with sounds from the Quarries of Monte Calvi. This sphere, changing color and intensity, diffuses the sounds captured by the mountain, creating a celestial spectacle that combines the sounds of the Quarry with the calls of nature, such as birdsong and the rustling of leaves.

This visionary project was realized thanks to the collaboration between Cave di Campiglia SPA, the Municipality of Campiglia Marittima and ISIA Roma Design, the result of the genius of Ultravioletto.
