“What is reality today? Is that picture photoshopped or real? Are we imprisoned in our own homes? Are we losing the human touch and the human connection? Do we consume the internet or has the internet consumed us? Do we live in a matrix?”
These are the questions that Vetements, a Zurich-based brand led by Demna and Guram Gvasalia, asked itself in the creation of its Spring/Summer 2022 collection.

A very large collection characterized by a tailoring deconstructed and made through experiments and innovations (wool and cashmere immersed in liquid metals, hot stamping, spray painting, 3D printing, etc..) and an all-over printed that clearly recalls the iconic graphics that made famous the film of the Wachowski sisters, The Matrix, which stands out on oversized shirts, tank tops, pants, jumpsuits and floral bodysuits.

he SS22 collection of Vetements was anticipated and announced by the brand with four posts on Instagram in which the name of the label was deliberately misspelled and linked to another page called VTEMETNES where we find uploaded only a photo that mimics the famous movie “The Devil Wears Prada” which in this case becomes “The Devil Wears Vetements”, a phrase that we also find on some garments of this SS22 declined, however, in “The Devil Doesn’t wear Prada”.

A collection that digs into what we have lived in this last year and a half and in what are the implications of personal situation that we have found ourselves living that has unhinged many of our certainties and habits and that has made us even more digital addicted.
It seems, however, that the worst is behind us and that slowly everything is returning to normal, but what about us? Will we go back to what we were before? How will we be when it’s all over for real? Will we have learned something or not?

Up here you can see an essential and hypnotic video, with in the background a sped up and instrumental version of Michael Jackson’s Black or White where the 129 looks from Vetements’ SS22 collection follow one another.
