Viennametry, the architectural geometries of Vienna

Zsolt Hlinka takes photographs with a very graphic approach. In the Viennametry series of shots, Zsolt’s attention is focused on infinite flights of stairs with particular shapes and colors.

The Budapest photographer, obsessed with architectural symmetries, tells the story of places and cities through the buildings. In the case of Vienna, the choice of immortalizing the stairs follows the theme of aspiration upwards. Viennametry represents the architecture of a city that carries with it the lasting impression of the past, but also the promise of a great future. That’s why you have to look beyond the photo, which at first glance is cold and stationary. In reality, each shot hides the story of a building, of a style, of a choice.
Like Zsolt’s choice to photograph both historical and modern buildings, where tradition is mixed with contemporaneity.
