Vik Muniz is a Brazilian artist born in 1961 that lives and works in the States.
Always his art stands out from the others: Muniz has abandoned the “classical” painting on canvas to experience new frontiers such as create illustrations using different objects that come from different backgrounds.

Vik Muniz likes to “paint” using sugar, peanut butter or chocolate and then with larger objects like computers or phones. The art of recycling, in fact. The artist’s project includes its own works or reproductions of famous works like those of Andy Warhol and The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci.

Another example is Lixo Extraordinario: a documentary directed by Lucy Walker, which follows the artist in Rio De Janeiro, specifically in a landfill called Jardim Gramacho, where through the recycling of different objects, Vik creates impressive artistic works. Mostly portraits and illustrations of men, women and children, reflecting the strong human spirit that moves him.
