Vinted has changed our wardrobes

Online second-hand fashion marketplaces have now become part of our daily lives. Vinted, a market leader, is one of the apps where enthusiasts of pre-loved clothing and accessories spend a significant amount of their time. The offering is extensive, and selling the clothes we want to part with is easy and fun. It has become a pop culture phenomenon. With the acquisition of Rebelle, a new era opens up for Vinted. Benefiting from Rebelle’s expertise in the second-hand luxury sector and its competence in verifying items from the German marketplace will help the platform.

Vinted: a pop culture phenomenon

If you’ve never come across @dmdrama on Instagram (formerly @depopdrama), now is the right time to do so. While it was once dedicated to Depop and the misfortunes of users on the English second-hand platform, it is now mainly populated by hilarious anecdotes from Vinted users.

Similarly, on TikTok, there are numerous profiles offering tips to find the equivalent of your style on Vinted. A genuine community that exchanges usernames in the comments, establishing a valid buying and selling network based on sharing. One of our favorite categories is undoubtedly the best finds. «The most interesting piece I found on Vinted is a pair of Prada ballerinas for the modest amount of €20, a great deal,» says Giordana.

Who uses Vinted?

An integral part of the Vinted ecosystem is its users, with over 11 million in Italy alone. Alongside this, there is a wide variety of items for sale. For this reason, many platform users make their personal style their strength. The curated aesthetic of some profiles makes the app experience as enjoyable as searching for unique pieces, even when sold by less active users on the platform. But for some, selling on Vinted is much more than a good deal: for vintage lovers, it’s an opportunity to gather information or discover old gems or brands that are no longer available. «Vinted is the right place to search for and find brands long forgotten or unknown that can enrich our wardrobes,» admits Elena Sofia, a long-time app user. In any case, this is not a deal only for women. «[…] on Vinted, there are many opportunities that also allow me to avoid waste,» says Cristiano, a lucky buyer of a vintage Avirex leather jacket from the ’90s, «a piece I love and that has become one of my favorite jackets.»

What will change on Vinted?

Starting from February 19, Rebelle users will receive an invitation that will initiate a migration process to move their ads, brand and size preferences, and items in the wishlist to a Vinted account. The merger opens up a great opportunity for the platform to grow, and with the help of the Rebelle team, it will begin a process of innovation towards a more conscious and sustainable fashion. Vinted’s promise lies in ensuring a secure platform, making used items our first choice in the future.
