The Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, the Swedish design-focused exhibition, has just concluded. Notably, we observed the new identity of Wekino, the Korean brand based in Seoul, as it firmly enters the international design scene, becoming a spokesperson for the so-called K-Design. As it is now well-known, Korean culture has become a prominent trend in recent years, spanning music, cinema, aesthetics, and skincare. Design has now taken its turn, and Wekino is strategically rebranding while also initiating a collaboration with the Stockholm-based Note Design Studio. The intention is to align Korean design with the international scene, establishing itself as a reference point. For the new collection, Wekino has chosen six small, emerging design studios with the goal of commissioning new works that blend the required freshness with tradition. The project is named Wekino With, featuring exclusively Korean designers, with the keyword being “juxtaposition” – a balanced blend of craftsmanship and hypermodernism. Below, we explore the six selected studios and the products they have created for this collaboration.
