Yesterday the Fashion Awards 2020 were awarded with a completely digital event on the official website, presented by Priyanka Chopra, Rosalía and Maisie Williams, during which the creativity and innovation of the main actors of contemporary fashion were celebrated.

The winners were revealed during the virtual ceremony and were divided into four categories: Community, Creativity, Environment and People.

Caroline Rush, CEO of the British Fashion Council that organises the event every year, made a statement about the focus on inclusiveness and sustainability that have been the main themes this year.

“What the last two months have shown us is that the fashion industry needs a real reset. That’s why this year, in unique circumstances, we felt it was important to give recognition to those people and companies that have played an important role in some of the crucial and most challenging issues for our generation and thus support those who have raised the bar in areas such as diversity, sustainability and community.”.

In the Community category, the designer Asai A Sai Ta stood out for his support to the Black lives matter movement, Kenneth Ize for the Nigerian fashion artisans and the French fashion house Chanel for the huge donations to charities, international funds and for the economic commitment made in the purchase of protection devices to fight the pandemic from COVID-19.

In the one dedicated to Creativity, Riccardo Tisci distinguished himself for his commitment to the health emergency, designer Grace Wales Bonner for having fought against racial prejudice in the fashion world, Kim Jones for having been able to go beyond the boundaries of creativity, Jonathan Anderson who revised the very concept of the show in a new key and finally Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons for their ability to re-imagine the future of fashion.

The third category is the one dedicated to the Environment, where Stella McCartney has once again proved to be at the forefront of sustainability and in which Gabriela Hearst distinguished herself for creating the first zero emissions collection.

In the fourth and final category, People, received the awards: the Editor-in-Chief of British Vogue, Edward Enninful for his constant support for diversity and Samuel Ross for the foundation of the Black lives matter financial aid program.

The Fashion Awards 2020 were a moment of joint reflection and a fitting celebration for the most important and committed people in the fashion world who have supported everyone’s battles such as the battle against racism, in favour of sustainability and the one to support the communities affected by the pandemic.
