The French design and paper art studio Zim & Zou, made by Lucie Thomas and Thibault Zimmermann, created an incredible and detailed artwork that reinterprets the Timberland‘s DYO personalization service and the iconic Boat Shoe.
An impressive job for the details and imagination, which accompanies us in a parallel world, made up of exoticisms, colors and adventures at the last breath.
Here’s how Lucie and Thibault tell us their creative process:
“For this collaboration we wanted to play on the origins of the boat shoe, which was created for sailers. The fact that Timberland allows you to customize the shoe with your own taste and create a unique model inspired us notions like difference and independence. As if this pair was the shoes of a pirate (we love pirates here).
That’s why we decided to play with a pirate imagery like a treasure chest, where the shoe is happily laying on gold pieces and diamonds, waiting to be discovered. The artwork was treated with paper, a material we’re using since more than 8 years.
We’re addicted to it because it’s basic, and you can find it almost everywhere. Plus it has so many different colors, textures, opacities, weights…which makes it an incredible material to play with.”
Here are the artwork and some making-of images.
