31 Bullets, Chicago’s Sun-Times campaign to fight gun violence

Giulia Pacciardi · 5 years ago · Art

31 Bullets, 31 posters that leave no particular room for imagination.
The award-winning Ogilvy agency has teamed up with Chicago Sun-Times to create an eloquent campaign that focuses on the excessive use of guns in America, particularly in Chicago, the city with the highest number of gunfights.

According to Sun-Times, more than 10 billion bullets are sold in the United States every year, most of which are misused and cause avoidable deaths.
Each of the posters graphically represents a specific problem or issue that is an integral part of the great and controversial debate on weapons.

The campaign, to which an entire website is dedicated, addresses the issue point by point, presenting the problems and related solutions proposed by various organizations that have been trying for years to improve the laws governing the use of weapons.

You’ll find all the posters here, but we recommend you to also read the website.

Alberonero goes back to Sicily with Marea, his last installation

Alberonero goes back to Sicily with Marea, his last installation

Giulia Pacciardi · 5 years ago · Art

It was September 2017 when Alberonero and Sirio Vanelli reached the Etna Volcano for Altro Paesaggio, an installation created to tell the topography, the landscape and the deep imaginary linked to the Sicilian volcanic complex.
Almost a year later Alberonero goes back to the island, but this time he stops in Pozzallo for the Festival Borders Art, an initiative created by the association RU_a in collaboration with Cufù.

With Marea, his new project realized together with Marco Boselli, the artist continues to research and create a dialogue with the
surrounding places and spaces, giving a new identity to Piazza delle Sirene, an abandoned place.
Mixing the world of installations with that of painting, Alberonero creates a link between the sea and the architecture.

His last work is a work of mobile architecture that invites the viewer to play, to move around it, to find new points of view between the full and transparent elements, to see the sea and everything around in a new way.

Wimbledon #TakeOnHistory

Wimbledon #TakeOnHistory

Giulia Guido · 5 years ago · Art

Waiting for the 132nd edition of Wimbledon, the art director duo composed by Alan Smith and Adam Foulkes in collaboration with Nexus Studios create an amazing illustrated and animated journey through the evolution and the history of the most famous tennis tournament. The short film follows a continuous tennis rally, beginning in 1877, through the ages. It captures the main changes like the scoreboards that change from analog to digital, or tennis balls which changed from with to yellow. As each new era begins, the illustrative style evolves with it from Victorian lithographs to a ’90s graphic novel style.

Short video for Breakfast – Watch MAR for starting the day

Short video for Breakfast – Watch MAR for starting the day

Giulia Guido · 5 years ago · Art

It’s Monday and we have to come back to work.
So, there’s no better way to start the day diving for few minutes in the cold North Atlantic waters.
MAR, made by Finisterre, will be able to let you forget about the heat, and, sitting comfortably on the train, or on the subway, you could ride the ocean waves with the surfer Noah Lane.

Daniel Jacob’s Swarovski’s sculptures

Daniel Jacob’s Swarovski’s sculptures

Giulia Guido · 5 years ago · Art

Since Daniel Jacob was a child he showed an interesting in sculpting, painting and drawing.
After spending most of his career in business and financial word he decided to return to his first love: art.
Always attracted by crystals, stones, gems and natural elements, in his last work he transformed all these stuff in a piece of art. In fact, the American artist with Russian origins created a series of sculptures entirely covered by Swarovski.
For this work, he has been inspired by pop-culture objects and elements like ice-creams, animals, Air Jordan sneakers, sewer grates.
Every single sculpture begins as three-dimensional scans which are then sculpted into cast resin and finally topped by hand with hundreds of thousands of multi-colored crystals.
Each of Daniel’s work creates an amazing game of light and shadows which bring them to a new life. A few of his sculptures have been shown at NonFinito Gallery in New York, but you can see more of this artist’s work on his website and Instagram.
