What will happen when the unbridled consumerism of capitalist societies has totally destroyed the Earth?

Brazilian artist Alvaro Naddeo has tried to represent him through his watercolours, which represent a strongly dystopian imaginary, reminiscent of the aesthetics of the favelas. The brands and logos of the past become part of a narrative that prefers pop language, characterized by a decadent mood.

The city becomes a sort of large open-air dump, where rusty goods, disused vans, become part of an immense slum: it is a world ruled by objects and not by the human being.

To create these illustrations, Alvaro composes his drawing by hand, and then digitizes everything with Photoshop. In addition, the artist declared that he was inspired by old magazines:

“I think of the stickers and posters I had in my room as a teenager or the group of brands I liked at some point in time. I also research old magazines and look at advertisements that share a specific era. It’s a very fun and nostalgic exercise”.

After gaining experience in the field of advertising graphics, Alvaro decided to represent the “duality” of these images. If you are interested in the work of this artist, please visit his Instagram profile here.
