Born in 1997, Anatol Knotek is an Austrian artist – precisely born in Vienna -, author of installations and conceptual works.

Anatol’s entire creative process starts from any word, often trivial and hyper used as “time”, which is analyzed in all its aspects, starting from the meaning, up to the form of the letters. Once completely dissected, the Austrian artist transforms this word, but also its meaning, into a concrete, palpable work made of canvas, ink or any other material. The final result: a painting with the words “time” emptying itself – just like an hourglass – of its ink dripping from the canvas on the wall to the floor.

Minimal and striking, his visual poems, which I also take the name of textobjekte or textinstallationen, may seem simple, but every little detail is taken care of with a maniacal precision from the size of the words to the font, almost always Helvetica Neue.

Anatol Knotek’s choice to use black and white, instead, is linked to his color blindness, a problem that led him to abandon painting as a young man and dedicate himself to conceptual installations.
With a very strong impact (and also Instagram friendly), Anatol Knotek’s works have been exhibited internationally and have been published in books, manuals, and magazines, leading the artist to become a member of the professional association of Austrian visual artists (Berufsvereinigung der Bildenden Künstler Österreichs).
