Two years ago, Klaus Littmann filled the Wörthersee Stadium in Klagenfurt, Austria, with 300 trees of different species for his “FOR FOREST” installation. Today, nature continues to be the undisputed protagonist of his works, as demonstrated by his latest work, which will be officially presented on 27 April in Basel‘s Old Town.

Nature itself is an enormous work of art

Entitled “Arena for a Tree“, the installation was commissioned by the Basel Cultural Foundation H. Geiger| KBH.G and is intended to highlight the problem of global warming, the need to do something together for a sustainable future. The Swiss artist once again started with a tree and built an arena around it. The structure both protects it and allows visitors to contemplate its beauty.

“Arena for a Tree” will be able to accommodate about 50 people at a time and will be open from 11 to 20, allowing anyone to sit in this small structure eight meters high that seems to envelop the viewer immersing him in a unique atmosphere, with the tree, understood as nature, at the center of everything.

Once again, Klaus Littmann wants to remind us not to forget the complex environmental issues.
