In this article, we have gathered all the books that we enjoyed in 2023. The themes are diverse, ranging from fiction to fashion, passing through the world of photography and design, not forgetting the art category. Some we have already discussed, while others are new discoveries waiting to be explored with us.
#1 Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow, Gabrielle Zevin
Yes, we’ve talked about it a lot before, but we couldn’t miss including it here among the books we enjoyed the most this year. Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin is one of the books of the year. The TTT phenomenon exploded thanks to BookTok, and as of today, on Good Reads, the reviews are over 580,000. Zevin tackles different themes, intertwining love, friendship, and gaming, managing to captivate and bring together millions of readers. The author not only skillfully connects distant themes but also capitalizes on the success that gaming has gained in pop culture in recent years.

#2 Another online pervert, Brea Souders
We came across this book when we were at PhotoVogue, and it immediately captivated us, starting from the cover. It consists of a series of conversations between the author, Brea Souders, and a female chatbot. A provocative and highly personal book that takes us on a journey to discover the interaction between humans and machines in a story shared through the fragments of one’s identity. It covers everything: love, sex, death, but also sad or anxious feelings.

#3 Una donna in carriera, Sophia Giovannitti
We have already talked about Sophia Giovannitti here on the occasion of the release of her book in America. Recently, it has also been released in Italian by Johan & Levi. The original title is Working Girl: on selling art and selling sex, and the book recounts her experiences in the world of art and sex work, explaining how these two seemingly distant worlds are actually very close.

#4 1000 Sneakers Deadstock – La collezione ideale, Larry Deadstock
In Italy, L’ippocampo has released this book on sneakers in Italy, a true bible for enthusiasts. Larry Deadstock is one of the most famous collectors and resellers in Europe, and in this guide, he has shared stories, moments, and places related to events in the world of sneaker culture.

#5 Green gulfs and Panga Panga parquet curated by Elisa Di Nofa e Francesco Paleari
We have already talked about this book, specifically in our Design section. This year, the neighborhood of Milan, San Felice, has returned to the spotlight thanks to the release of this book curated by Elisa Di Nofa and Francesco Paleari. From the wonderful photographs, what immediately catches the eye are the interiors, carefully curated and designed specifically for San Felice. From beautiful design pieces, including the Lyndon chandeliers designed by Magistretti in lilac, to Cassina chairs, and custom-made kitchens in “rosso Caccia” (hunting red).

This year, we have seen mushrooms everywhere, and this book written by Merlin Sheldrake tells the secret life of fungi. In a blend of narrative skill and investigation, the author helps us grasp the magical world of mushrooms, inhaling with full lungs the wonder and importance of the natural ecosystems we inhabit.
