What does it mean to be a girl? What is femininity? Is it a value? A connotation? A lesson to learn? An innate characteristic? Photographer Bettina Rheims with the project “Like a Woman” shows us one of the many faces of femininity, the erotic one. And she portrays him as a woman in the moment immediately following her orgasm.

A proof that the female orgasm exists, for all those who were asked and failed to make their woman happy. In fact, not only does it exist, it’s wonderful.

These photos of faces and bodies taken away from enjoyment and taken from the perspective of a lover are proof of this. Proof that sex can be shown in a pure way, giving space and dignity to its beauty and power.

The red face, the lines left by the lingerie that tightens a bit, the hair out of proportion, the face upset…what a beautiful way to be a girl.

Medicated, Richard Kern’s photographic book on modern addictions

Medicated, Richard Kern’s photographic book on modern addictions

Buddy · 1 year ago · Photography

Inspired by a conversation he had with his assistant about daily drug abuse, Richard Kern between 2010 and 2018 decided to produce a series of interviews entitled Medicated.

Kern interviews a group of women about the drugs they used and the effects of those drugs on their outlook, resulting in a photo book and a series of controversial video content that offers the opportunity to look at the much more insidious face of contemporary drug addiction from prescription.

The resulting images, young women in their underwear holding up their pill bottles (Valium and Klonopin, but also Relpax, a treatment for migraines) against a background of their own cozily haphazard bathrooms and messy bedrooms, seems to be confessions scenes stolen by accident.

Kern’s images comment on the realisation that anybody can fall foul of addiction, taking us inside the white picket fences of America’s suburban drug addiction.

Glamour and sensual photography by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott

Glamour and sensual photography by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott

Buddy · 1 year ago · Photography

Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, also known as Mert and Marcus, are two of the most innovative fashion photographers of the last 30 years.

Since their first cover on Dazed and Confused in 1997, they have been the authors of some of the most extraordinary and iconic images in contemporary glam fashion. A photographic style that combined refinement and sensuality, glossy images, dizzying perspectives, saturated colors or a sharp and contrasting black and white. Their work, the incredible use of color and light, often hyper-realistic, has been published in the most important magazines in the world, including the American, French, Italian and British editions of Vogue, W, Document Journal, Self Service, Interview , LOVE, Vanity Fair and Print Publication among others.

They directed music videos for Madonna and Nicki Minaj and shot advertising campaigns for many major luxury brands, including Christian Dior, Calvin Klein, Gucci, Miu Miu, Versace, Lancome, Giorgio Armani, Yves Saint Laurent and Louis Vuitton.

Nude photography for them is the composition of human form and desire. Not the body as a sculpture or the bare skin as flesh. But a combination of precisely captured details to tell the power of the human body.

Ezgi Polat’s amazing female portraits

Ezgi Polat’s amazing female portraits

Buddy · 1 year ago · Photography

Ezgi Polat is a photographer based in Berlin, Germany. She started working after graduation and became famous thanks to Instagram.

With her portraits she loves to play with light and dark and bright colors full of romance with a touch of dreamlike and fantasy elements.

Her models hypnotize us with their gaze towards the camera, creating images full of emotional intensity.

Her photographs are frames of a world that seems to move in slow motion, very delicate and suspended. Or small phrases of a whispered, romantic and dreamy story.

Guillaume Gaubert’s photos, memories of a past summer

Guillaume Gaubert’s photos, memories of a past summer

Giulia Guido · 1 year ago · Photography

Maybe it’s the long promenades, the deep blue of the sea, the white linen dresses and shirts, the sun illuminating everything and tanning the skin, the dreamy yachts, the celebrities, maybe it’s all these things that have transformed the French Riviera into a magical place, where summers seem more beautiful, more chic, where you can breathe freedom.
It is this atmosphere that is the subject of much of Guillaume Gaubert‘s work.

Guillaume Gaubert is a young French photographer and cinematographer who began shooting with an old Leica that belonged to his grandfather.
Having spent most of his life there, the French Riviera inevitably became the central theme of his artistic research.

– Read: A Mediterranean summer: the shots by Arturo Bamboo

The photographer tells this little corner of paradise not only through glimpses of beaches and places but also, and above all, through sensual and unfiltered portraits of young girls who fully embody the philosophy of life of the place. The bodies are finally free from winter clothes and the skin breathes in contact with the air, with the water, with the sand.

Guillaume Gaubert’s shots, with their thick grain typical of film and warm colors, seem to have been found in an old photo album and looking at them we rediscover the scent of summer, the sea, the heat.

We have selected just a few of his shots, but to find out more follow Guillaume Gaubert on Instagram and on his website
